With vacancies starting at £10.50p/h, we offer a competitive salary with a focus on staff training and development. We are as dedicated to our staff as we are to our young people and the community.

This role would suit an experienced youth worker, or someone looking to start their career in the Health and Social Care sector. Following a thorough induction and training programme, your duties as Practitioner Worker will include:

  • Supporting children aged 16-18 in full-time supported accommodation

  • To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person

  • Setting boundaries for children and young people that may display challenging or emotional behaviour, whilst developing a relationship built on mutual trust

  • Delivering 1:1 interventions and key work sessions dependent upon need

  • To have an understanding and work with those with identified with complex and or criminogenic needs

  • Practitioners play a key role in contributing to the physical, social and emotional well-being, in order to provide a safe and nurturing atmosphere

  • To use behaviour management strategies effectively and in line with the home's policies and procedures, which contribute to a purposeful and safe environment

  • Supporting the young people’s emotional needs throughout the day, managing their day time routine and any challenging behaviour.

  • Undertaking a range of domestic duties

  • Communicating with the wider care team to promote consistency throughout the home.

  • Manage any safeguarding and risk management responses as per the placement plan and BPL Property Care Homes policies.

 

Key Skills Required:

  • Evidence of successfully working with young people

  • Awareness of safeguarding young people

  • Ability to deal with challenging behaviour

  • High degree of resilience

  • Good communication skills

  • Ideally, hold a full UK Driving Licence, but this is not essential.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
